Emergency Plan Survey

Nearly all emergencies affecting the local community will be dealt with by a joint response from the emergency services, local authorities and utility companies. However, in extreme conditions such as snow and flooding, there is a possibility that these agencies may be overwhelmed and/or not able to attend immediately. In such circumstances, the initial response may need the help of local residents.

Snitterfield Parish Council is developing a Community Emergency Plan in conjunction with CSW Resilience, a single unified team of Emergency Planning Officers that represent the local authorities of Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. This plan will help the community to respond to a major incident or emergency, whilst awaiting the assistance of the emergency services and local authorities.

To help us prepare the plan, Snitterfield Parish Council has developed a survey for all households which is being distributed thanks to Snitterfield Community Volunteers. This survey will help to identify resources, skills and equipment that are available within the community and also who would be most in need of help during an emergency.

Residents can prepare at household level using the following recommended resources:

If you are vulnerable, please consider registering on the Priority Services Register.  You need to contact your energy supplier to get on the Priority Services Register as each energy supplier and network operator maintains its own register. By being on the Register, you will get help such as:

  • Advance notice of planned power cuts
  • Priority support in an emergency
  • Safe and practical pre-payment meter arrangements
  • Meter reading services at appropriate intervals

Be Prepared with CSW Resilience who have a wealth of practical advice and steps to follow in an emergency. Households can download a Home Emergency Plan to discuss with children and family members.
